FAQ

What Can I Perform?

Question 1

You can perform really anything you'd like! Some of the past performers have played instruments, sung, and more. Think of this as a talent show. Treats & Tunes is unique because we perform music and other arts in order to make a change in the residents' lives, so try to perform uplifting music!

How Much of a Time Commitment is Treats & Tunes?

Question 2

For performers, Treats & Tunes isn't too big of a commitment. All you need to do is take a minute to sign up for a slot each month and prepare your piece(s)! For anyone looking to host a Treats & Tunes in their own community, it can require a little more work. Hosts will have to schedule communications between performers, coordinate weekly google forms, and schedule performances with their respective center. There will be leadership meetings for anyone looking to host, so we'll make the process as simple as it can be for you!

What if I want to participate but don't feel ready to perform yet?

Question 3

No worries! Our mission is to share the joys of music and performance while including everyone. Feel free to watch/ attend and support! You can also visit with the residents after the performances.

What's the "Treats" part of Treats & Tunes?

Question 4

When Treats & Tunes originally started with in-person performances, performers were encouraged to bring treats to share with the residents. However due to the pandemic, we have been unable to do this since performances have been online. We hope that when things return to normal we can incorporate the treats back into Treats & Tunes!

Do I have to live in Tennessee to participate?

Question 5

No! Feel free to join any of our virtual performances while we're online. You can also join a Treats & Tunes somewhere near your community. So far, our major host places are Nashville, TN, San Francisco, CA, Kalamazoo, MI, and New York City, NY. If you don't live near any of these cities, you can start your OWN Treats & Tunes near your community. Reach out with questions!

What are the rules and guidelines for the Treats & Tunes community?

Question 6

As always, we expect our performers to be kind and encouraging to each other. As for specific rules, singers should make sure that none of their lyrics contain explicit material, and the general rule of thumb is to make sure your piece isn't too long! The maximum length is 10 minutes, but try not to exceed that. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

Are there any costs associated with performing?

Question 7

No! Treats & Tunes is an organization that gives people a place to volunteer and share their talents with members of long term care centers. The assisted living facilities we perform at kindly allow us their time and space with no cost! It's a great deal.

Is there an ability level required to perform?

Question 8

No! We want to include as many people as possible. Just as long as you are committed and ready to have some fun and spread joy, we are more than happy to have you join our community.

Do I get volunteer hours from participating in Treats & Tunes?

Question 9

Yes! We can arrange this if you let us know ahead of time. But, of course, fulfilling your school's volunteer hours requirement shouldn't be your sole motivation to join the community! If this is something you are interested in, reach out and email treatsandtuness@gmail.com
